Module 1 – Introduction to Aromatherapy History.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Summarise your understanding of Aromatherapy.

LO2 List the plants substances used by ancient man for medicinal purposes and give five ways in which they were used.
LO3

Describe the following: Chi, Yin and Yang

LO4 Define the different types of Vibrational medicine.
 

Module 2 – Curative Powers of Smell, Limbic Lobe and Olfactory Pathway.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Analyse the five main parts of the brain, briefly describing the cerebrum.

LO2 Summarise where you would find the following: Motor centres, Sensory centres for the trunk and head, Sight Centre
LO3 Discuss the three groups of nerve fibres.
LO4 Specify the activities regulated by the hypothalamus.
LO5 Introduce reasons why the relationship between the brain, mind and body is important.
 
Module 3 – The Cells and Tissues, The Skin.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Summarise the structure of the skin relating to the following layers: Dermis, Epidermis

Module 4 – Skeletal System.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Explore the four major categories of bones.

Define some of the common anatomical terms associated with the skeletal system.

Explore the vertebral column (spine).

Module 5 – Muscular System.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Explain how the positions of skeletal muscles are related to the movements they produce and how muscles interact to produce these movements.

Module 6 – Nervous System.

Module 10 – Respiratory System.

Module 14 – Reproductive System.

Module 15 – Essential Oil, Extraction, Mixing and Blending.

Introduce the recognized home of the essential oil industry and show why these oils are different from others.

Discuss how essential oils penetrate the skin and how long it takes.

LO3

Evaluate three methods of obtaining an essential oil.

Describe the utensils that are required when mixing oils.

 

Module 16 – Carrier Oils.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

List five of the carrier oils giving an explanation of each.

Discuss two specialised carrier oils giving descriptions of each.

Identify four top, middle and base note oils.

 

Module 17 – Directory of Essential Oils.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Describe how long the effects of top, base and middle notes generally last.

Summarise which is the most versatile of all oils and name two which are very expensive.

LO3

Introduce the term ‘contra-indication’ and give two examples where this term would apply.

 

Module 18 – Tables of Essential Oils.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Identify a suitable remedy using up to three oils for the following conditions: Alopecia, Catarrh, Bronchitis, Dermatitis, Earache, Menopause, Migraine

 

Module 19 – The Subtle Body.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Summarise how many subtle bodies there are and state what they are called.

LO2

Introduce the Etheric body.

LO3

Define the Astral body.

LO4

Describe the functions of the Chakra system.

LO5

Judge how many meridians are found in the body and show which meridian pairs with the small intestine.

 
Module - 20 Stress and Aromatherapy.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 LO1: Define your understanding of stress.
LO2 LO2: List the four areas in which stress can affect us and give a brief description of each.
LO3 LO3: Describe briefly the meaning of burnout.
LO4 LO4: List the four basic strategies for managing stress.
 

Module 21 – Client Consultation.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

List all the contra-indications to Aromatherapy massage.

LO2

Describe the process of centering yourself and why this is important.

LO3

Summarise the benefits of Aromatherapy massage.

 

Module 22 – Massage.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Identify briefly the meaning of massage and explain why you should oil the body.

LO2

Discuss what Effleurage massage is and how you would apply it to the client.

LO3

Introduce Petrissage massage and show the method of application.

LO4

Analyse the functions of the Bladder Meridian.

 
Module 23 – Massage (cont).
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 Describe the following massages: Relaxing, Stimulating
LO2 Evaluate in detail how you would perform a massage sequence of the back area.
LO3 Judge why massage of the stomach is up to the client.
LO4 Summarise the purpose of the Client Consultation Form.
