Module 1 – Introduction.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Module 2 – Basic Anatomy & Physiology.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 Evaluate the anatomy and physiology of the human body
LO2   Examine the 4 systems of the body
LO3   Summarise how many kidneys we have in our bodies
LO4   Discuss the position of the thyroid gland in the body
 
Module 3 – Herbal Remedies.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 Discuss advantages and disadvantages of using herbs for medicinal purposes
LO2   Summarise your research into the uses of the following herbs:
  • Marigold
  • Tansy
  • Vervain
  • Valerian root
 
Module 4 – Internal & External Use of Herbs.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 Identify methods of preparing herbs and give examples of conditions which benefit from these remedies
LO2   Discuss what would be the suggested temperatures for:
  • A poultice
  • An enema
LO3   Examine 2 herbs rich in silica and fluorine
LO4   Define what ailment you would use witch hazel for
 
Module 5 – Digestive Disorders.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 Examine the more common digestive dis-orders, dis-ease states of the skin and appropriate remedies for such conditions
LO2   Evaluate the recommended treatment for acute gastric catarrh
LO3   Identify 4 functions of the skin
LO4   Summarise your understanding of the following:
  • Papules
  • Pustules
  • Scales
 
Module 6 – Afflictions of the Respiratory System.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 Introduce the more common afflictions of the respiratory system and give appropriate treatment
LO2   Discuss what remedies would be used for:
  • Chronic Nasal Catarrh
  • Influenza
LO3   Examine what dis-orders you would treat with Primrose
LO4   Summarise the cause of Neurasthenia
 
Module 7 – Medical Properties of Herbs.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 List the medical terms a student should become familiar with
LO2   Discuss the Prostate and Thyroid Glands and Rheumatic dis-orders giving suggested treatment
LO3   Describe dis-orders related to the Thyroid Gland
LO4   Evaluate the treatment you would use for problems relating to the Prostate Gland
 
Module 8 – Physiological Complains Experienced by Women.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 Analyse the various conditions suffered by women and the herbal remedies offered
LO2   Examine the sleep process and the herbs you would use to facilitate sleep
LO3   Summarise your comprehension of the following, giving causes, symptoms and treatments(s):
  • Dropsy of the womb

  • Dysmenorrhoea
LO4   Discuss menopause showing its symptoms and suggested treatment
 
Module 9 – The Subtle Bodies, Chakra System & Meridian System.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Module 16 – The Personal History Record.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
  Learning Outcome
LO1 Introduce a typical Personal History Record form and discuss the issuing of herbal prescription to a patient
LO2   Define why ‘Client Consultation’ is necessary
LO3   Evaluate how you would obtain information from a client in order to treat them correctly
 
Module 17 – Setting Up A Practice.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 Examine the logistics, entrepreneurial skills and resources required for setting up a practice as a business opportunity
LO2   Define the steps to follow when assessing a business opportunity
LO3   Identify the importance of the therapy room when opening a practice
