Module 1 - Introduction - Tools of the Trade - Theft Part I.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

  Learning Outcome
LO1

Summarise the life of a Private Detective, the equipment necessary to the job and briefly discuss ‘theft’

LO2   Explain your understanding of a Private Detective and summarise what his job entails
LO3   List and identify some trade tools
LO4   Define the meaning of ‘theft’
 

Module 2 - Theft Part II.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Analyse theft in its definitions and legal status and explain the concept of tracing

LO2   Summarise what happens when a person handles stolen goods unknowingly
LO3   Discuss the importance of P.A.C.E. and explain its significance to a Private Investigator
LO4   Explain how you would trace a missing person
 

Module 3 - Tracing.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Evaluate what information you would gather to trace a teenage runaway and summarise the importance of clues

LO2   List questions you would ask to help locate a missing teenager
LO3   Describe how you would gather clues
 

Module 4 - Surveillance.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Introduce the various aspects of surveillance

LO2   Explain why recording information is of great importance
LO3   Describe in your own words the ‘art of watching without watching’
 

Module 5 - Electronic Equipment & Counter Espionage - Polygraph Calibrator.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Discuss the different types of technological surveillance available to a Private Investigator and examine the pertinent points to consider while attending court

LO2   Analyse the different technological surveillances giving their advantages and disadvantages
LO3   Examine lawful inferences connected with using surveillance devices

Module 6 - Repossession.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Examine the various techniques of re-possessing goods

Module 7 - Process Serving.

Module 8 - Interviewing & Interrogation.

LO1 Define the interviewing and interrogation process, discuss what is involved in taking a statement and explain how to set up an Agency
LO2   Explain the term ‘interview’ and discuss the importance of ‘interrogation’
