Module 1 – Women and Stress.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Discuss women’s rights in today’s society, identifying symptoms of stress and explaining how these can be alleviated

LO2   Define your interpretation of the section titled ‘Women and Stress’
LO3   Summarise the sections on:
  • Self-esteem
  • Faulty habits
 

Module 2 - Symptoms of Stress - Self-Esteem.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

  Learning Outcome
LO1

Examine conflict in women, how it can be avoided and their reactions to frustration

LO2   Discuss the meaning of ‘Conflict’, include all key elements
LO3   Identify the meaning of displaced anger, giving three examples of your own
LO4   Explain the meaning of apathy
 

Module 3 - Understanding Emotions.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1

Analyse the different classifications of emotions identifying the role the brain plays

LO2   Evaluate the parasympathetic pattern
LO3   Explain how the brainstem works
LO4   Identify the neutral territory which gives emotions to the brain
LO5   Discuss what the neocortex is used for
 

Module 4 - Anger and Aggression.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Introduce and explain the emotions of rage, sadness, melancholy and depression

LO2   Examine the repercussions of escalating anger
LO3   Analyse the purpose of cognitive therapy
LO4   Describe two positively effective strategies
 

Module 5 - Depression and Mood Swings.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 Discuss the effects emotions and moods have on a women
LO2   Evaluate the roles hope, optimism, pessimism and flow play in coping with stress
LO3   Analyse the meaning of positive motivation
LO4   Summarise the meaning of the word ‘hope’
LO5   Judge ways a client may enter into flow
 

Module 6 - Self-Observations, Self-Awareness.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

Analyse Self-Awareness and Self-Observation and introduce PTSD with suggested treatment

LO2   Identify the symptoms that occur in PTSD
LO3   Introduce the part of the brain controlling the release of catecholomines
LO4   Examine the three stages involved in the recovery from trauma
 
Module 7 - Initial Consultation and Diagnostic Techniques.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 Examine methods of therapy, discussing causes and effects of stress and anxiety
LO2   Explain the method in which stimuli are transmitted
LO3   Describe occurs when the parasympathetic system becomes over stimulated
LO4   Introduce and describe phobic anxiety
 
Module 8 - Diagnostics Interview Part (a).
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 Examine suggested guidelines to follow when constructing an Initial Consultation Form
LO2   Evaluate the relevance of the following headings:
  • Referred By
  • Appearance
  • Previous Treatment
  • Current Medication
LO3   Explain the reason confidentiality should be discussed with the client
 
Module 9 - Diagnostics Interview Part (b).
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 Discuss contents pertaining to the second part of the Initial Consultation Form
LO2   Identify the significance of the following numbers:
  • Numbers 1-12
  • Numbers 13-18
  • Numbers 19-22
LO3   Examine reasons for not treating cases who suffer unlettered symptoms
LO4   Summarise the following ailments:
  • Reactive Depression
  • Endogenous Depression
 
Module 10 - The Process Therapy.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:

LO1 Explain how to analyse the ICF form, the significance of lettered signs and appropriate therapy
LO2   Describe symptoms of phobic and traumatic anxiety, outlining appropriate treatment
